İnsana xas olan və minlərlə digərləri tərəfindən bölüşülən ortaq xarici siluetlərdir kölgələr. “Mavi gölgələr” seriyası da adını buradan götürür.
“Mavi kölgələr” insan mövzusuna iki bucaqdan müraciət edir. Tərəzinin bir gözünə cəmiyyəti, digərinə isə fərdi qoyur. Ümumiləşdirilmiş insan anlayışı isə demək olar bütün kompozisiyaların tərəfsiz şahididir. Onun tərəfsizliyi heç bir şəxs, kimlik və ya xarakter daşımayan siluet forması ilə dəstəklənir. Bu kiçik mavi kölgələrin “insan” anlayışını təmsilçisi kimi sadəcə cismən neytrallığı yox, həm də əslində eyni anda var olmuş və olan bütün insanların kimliyini özündə əks etdirir.
Səhnələrin heç birində kölgələr baş qəhrəman deyil. Çünki hadisələri sizin gözünüzdən izləyirlər. Bu həm insanın cılızlığını əyani olaraq göstərir, həm də qiyabi olaraq üçüncü şəxsin baxışından səhnənin müşahidəçisi kimi kainatın mərkəzindəki yerini qoruyur. Onların məkanlardakı yeri fiziki bir fərdin təbiətlə əlaqəsinə də bənzəyir. Bu ziddiyətli münasibətdir. Bir bütünün (təbiətin / səhnənin) parçası olmaq, eyni və bütöv, o olmaq, eyni zamanda ona qarşı çıxaraq özünü də inkan etməyin travmasını yaşamaq. Əslində bütün o siluetlərin özü də anlayır nəyinsə doğru olmadığını. Bəlkə də elə budur məni narahat edən təkamüldəki xəta ehtimalı.
No living creature in nature reflects upon its own existence (to our knowledge). Yet human beings have spent years pondering what it means to be human. The lack of a definitive answer keeps the topic both fascinating and open to ongoing debate. I sometimes feel closer to the view that humanity represents a misstep in the evolutionary process of nature. After all, at no point in history has man been this close to detaching himself from nature.
Understanding that man is nature itself based on his chemical composition makes this detachment all the more dramatic. While there is no need to explain each one individually—from speech to mental activity, and from the multi-layered complexity of social behaviors to its impact on the surrounding environment—human existence as a whole appears miraculous. The sense of wonder stemming from this complexity has caused us—at various periods in history, and even today—to see ourselves at the center of the universe. In a materialist space, simply picking up a telescope at night and looking at the stars is enough to refute this. Yet, on a mental plane, human centrality is unavoidable. The primary reason for this is that we are forced to observe our surroundings from a first-person perspective.
Returning to the matter of the "miracle" without overly branching out, the idea that this magnificence arose as a result of a "flaw" creates a sense of confusion, as much as it might sound positive. It can even be understood as something not so pleasant. In any case, knowing that in the infinite perpetual cycle, the universe we live in today is just one of infinite variants considerably diminishes the pathos of the word "miracle."
All these generalizations that cross our minds when pondering what man is are put forward with the pre-assumption that man is perceived as a unified form. Analyzing humanity as an individual or a society makes it difficult to see the progress achieved due to both internal and social chaotic structures. To see where we stand in finding the answer to the question of what it means to be human, one must step back quite a bit and look at the concept of "human" from a generalized perspective.
Visually, our shadows are what best summarize the concept of humanity. There is no image or individual identity. Shadows are shared external silhouettes native to being human and shared by thousands of others. The "Blue Shadows" series takes its name from here.
The "Blue Shadows" series approaches the subject of humanity from two angles, placing society on one side of the scale and the individual on the other. The generalized concept of human serves as the impartial witness to nearly all compositions. Its impartiality is reinforced by its silhouette form, which bears no specific person, identity, or character. These small blue shadows are not only bodily neutral as representatives of the "human" concept; they actually reflect the identities of all humans who have ever existed and exist simultaneously.
In none of the scenes are the shadows the protagonists, because they observe the events through your eyes. This visually demonstrates both the pettiness of man and, by proxy, preserves his place at the center of the universe as an observer of the scene from a third-person perspective. Their placement within the spaces also resembles the relationship between a physical individual and nature. This is a contradictory relationship: being part of a whole (nature / the scene), being the same and whole—being it—while simultaneously experiencing the trauma of opposing it and thereby denying oneself. In fact, all those silhouettes themselves realize that something is not right. Perhaps this is precisely what troubles me: the probability of a flaw in evolution.
